Information about Nicosia

A wonderful city with picturesque neighbourhoods and an old historic centre and well preserved Venetian walls only 5 minutes by car, 10 minutes by our free bikes and 20 minutes walk from the ASTY Hotel (1.7 kilometres). We can also offer you a lift with our free shuttle service, or you can catch bus number 259 or 211.

Nicosia Tours: The best way to experience Nicosia’s sights and landmarks is by walking. Nicosia Municipality in collaboration with the Cyprus Tourism Organization offer guided walking tours of the old and new city that begin at 10 am from the CTO information centre in Laiki Yitonia (Popular Neighbourhood) and are free of charge. On Mondays, guided tours walk you through the Kaimakli and Pallouriotissa districts, one of the oldest neighbourhoods of the city outside the walls. On Thursdays, visitors are taken on a tour of the old city within the walls to discover its rich history and many hidden secrets. All tours last approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, with a 30 minute break.

Here are a few free and interesting visits to do when in Nicosia: The Leventis Municipal Museum in Laiki Yitonia (Popular Neighbourhood); Venetian Walls + Famagusta Gate + Taht-el-kale neighbourhood (same area); The city within the walls, Phaneromeni Church and surrounding area; Agios Ioannis Cathedral (same area as Byzantine Museum + Folk Art Museum – small entrance fee); Local Markets (Wednesday and Saturday at OXI square)
